The Mackenzie brought to you by Devold is an ode to the history of our farming pioneers in this iconic landscape. Be prepared to enjoy the atmosphere at The Mackenzie.
They don't call this district the #legendarymackenzie for nothing!!
The Mackenzie brought to you by Devold allows gravel bikes in this race.
There are separate race categories in The Drover, The Muster, and The Huntaway races.
Please note the following:
It will really be a matter of experience/ability/personal choice re the gravel bike.
The main Race Village is less than a 10 minute walk from most accommodation options in the township. There are limited parking options in the village so we ask that The Drover, The Muster, The Shepherd, and The Merino competitors ride to the start line.
Please let your supporters know that they are best to walk to the Race Village and around the Lake Tekapo village to access the shops and businesses.
NO SUPPORTERS ARE ABLE TO VIEW THE HUNTAWAY START LINE. All competitors will be bused to the start line.
We highly recommend all The Huntaway competitors register on Friday between 3pm - 7:30pm at the Bayleys Mackenzie office in Lake Tekapo. This is at the Mackenzie Room, The Godley Hotel, Unit B/2-4 Rapuwai Lane, Lake Tekapo.
ON THE MORNING OF THE RACE YOU CAN ONLY COLLECT YOUR RACE PACK FROM THE RACE VILLAGE IN LAKE TEKAPO. THIS IS SITUATED ON THE VILLAGE GREEN NEAR THE LAKE FRONT.
No Race Registration will occur at Godley Peaks Station for The Huntaway.
If you are registering on the day you will need to collect your Race Pack from the Race Village in Lake Tekapo between 6:00am - 6:30am.
All other competitors can collect Race Packs on Friday between 3pm - 7:30pm at the Bayleys Mackenzie office in Lake Tekapo. This is at the Mackenzie Room, The Godley Hotel, Unit B/2-4 Rapuwai Lane, Lake Tekapo
You can also register on the morning of the race - please check your race distance page for recommended registration times. We recommend all competitors register on the Friday if possible. This will allow for a smoother morning before your ride.
We are not gear checking competitors and their bikes before the event. However there will be spot checks before the start of the race, and also out on course.
If someone is found to not be carrying the required gear they will be disqualified from the race.
You will not be permitted to start The Drover unless you have the required lights (see Compulsory Bike Gear).
All gear requirements can be found on the Rules and Safety page (click on the image).
It is up to each competitor to ensure they are carrying the required gear and that their bike is in a suitable condition to complete The Mackenzie brought to you by Devold.
"The Musterer's Rest" Aid Station will have a Bag Drop option. You will be able to leave a change of socks/shoes etc and any specific food requirements. If you are in the E Bike category, this is also where you will be able to leave your spare battery.
The Bag Drop option does not relate to The Merino race.
All bags need to be at the main Race Village in Lake Tekapo by 8:00am on Saturday morning. No bag drops will be done on Friday at Race Registration - only on race day morning.
Staff will give you a label to attach to your bag.
We will be bringing the bags back to the Finish Line at the end of the event. You will not be able to drive up to this Aid Station to collect your used bag. You will have to wait until the completion of the race where our crew will transport the bags back to Lake Tekapo.
