The Muster takes you on a journey across private high-country stations alongside one of New Zealand's most scenic lakes, Lake Tekapo. For this day only you will have exclusive access to these three stations, allowing you the opportunity of a lifetime to cycle in this incredible location.
The start and finish line is on private land on Godley Peaks Station. You are able to take your bike to the station on Friday afternoon and leave it there overnight (security in place) and then bus to the start line on the morning of the race OR you and your bike are able to be dropped to the start line on the morning of the race by your supporter. (Full details below.)
The race is a series of farm loops, allowing you a true one-day only experience. Each loop includes a small hill, truly maximizing the views of the lakes and the Mackenzie Region. The race starts with Godley Peaks Station before moving to Glenmore Station, and finally Balmoral Station. Riders will see the vast landscape in all directions, also including Lake Tekapo, Lake Pukaki, and glimpses of Aoraki / Mount Cook.
Each farm will include farm roads (gravel), paddock trails, rocky tracks, and some stream crossings on occasion. There is a short section (approx 3km) of sealed road between Glenmore Station and Balmoral Station. This is a true MTB event with approximately 2000m elevation gain across the 100km distance.
With exclusive access across three high-country stations, The Muster offers a rare opportunity to experience the Mackenzie up close. Expect epic riding and breathtaking views on a journey through some of the region's most spectacular private high country stations.

The Muster start line is at Godley Peaks Station, 20km along Godley Peaks Rd. This is on private land and access is limited to competitors only.
Competitors can be dropped off on the morning of the race along with their bike OR they can drop their bike to the farm on Friday afternoon (security on site) and then catch an event shuttle to the start line on race day.
If being dropped off on race morning by private vehicle, all vehicles must depart the site immediately. NO SPECTATORS ON SITE.
The start will be via a classic kiwi 'Bark Off' - when the shepherd gets their dog to bark, that is the start gun.
Riders will be organised in order of competitiveness. There will be a 5 minute window for riders to start the race to allow for a good spread throughout the pack.
Please read the following information carefully if you wish to purchase a bus ticket to get dropped off to your start line:
The buses will be departing Lake Tekapo at 6:30am SHARP. Riders will be dropped off at the Cass River bridge (entry point to the station) and will need to walk across the bridge and on to the farm. It will take approx 5-10 minutes to get to your bike.
We recommend you bring a head torch or some form of lighting to assist you into the farm.
Full information on the bus stop location and loading times will be released closer to the time.
BUS TICKETS: $25 (includes 5.5% processing fee + GST)
The Muster competitors can collect Race Packs on Friday between 3pm - 7:30pm at the Bayleys Mackenzie office in Lake Tekapo. This is at the Mackenzie Room, The Godley Hotel, Unit B/2-4 Rapuwai Lane, Lake Tekapo. (TBC)
You can also register on the morning of the race between 6:10am - 7:00am. We recommend all competitors to register on the Friday if possible. This will allow for a smoother morning before your ride.
