Distance: 4km 

Elevation: Approx 7m elevation across the course

Start Time: 1:00pm 

Start/Finish Line: Glenmore Station

Race Briefing: 12:50am Saturday 3rd April 2027

Minimum Age: 5yr

Maximum Age: 12yr (inclusive)

Result Categories:

1st, 2nd, 3rd Girl, Boy Overall, 

Race Cut Off Information:

Riders have one hour to complete the 4km loop on the farm.

The Race

Big adventures for our littlest riders!


New for 2027, The Pup is a fun 4km ride designed especially for kids aged 5–12. Starting and finishing at the Race Village, riders will head out across the flats of Glenmore Station, following gravel farm tracks and laneways with a short section of gravel road along the way.


It's all about giving our youngest riders the chance to experience The Mackenzie by Devold for themselves - and we've timed it so there'll be plenty of spectators back at the Race Village ready to cheer them across the finish line!

The Pup Start Line

The Pup start line is at Glenmore Station, off Godley Peaks Rd - approximately 15 mins drive from Lake Tekapo. This is on private land and access is limited to competitors and supporters only.


The start will be via a classic kiwi 'Bark Off' - when the shepherd gets their dog to bark, that is the start gun.

Race Registration

The Pup competitors can collect Race Packs on Friday between 3pm - 7:00pm at the Bayleys Mackenzie office in Lake Tekapo. This is at the Mackenzie Room, The Godley Hotel, Unit B/2-4 Rapuwai Lane, Lake Tekapo. (TBC)


Kids can also register on the morning of the race between 11:30am - 12:30pm.
